I’m inspired to write about a viewpoint I have on Jesus Christ, historically known as Jesus of Nazareth, and religiously as the Son of God. It may be a little sideways, unconventional and straying from the general norm in every sense, but take a chance with me. You never know what might actually resonate.
Having touched on religion in several previous posts, you may be familiar with my belief that most all of the world’s major religions are pointing toward the same Truth, about who/what we are (eternal Beings connected to the Divine Source) and what our primary purpose on this material realm is (to Love). I was first exposed to this perspective on Jesus in Eckhart Tolle’s book “A New Earth,” but have since expanded it. Jesus of Nazareth was a real life person, factually speaking, and he came thousands of years before his time, in terms of conscious enlightenment and understanding of this Truth. There is generally no argument that Jesus preached a message of love, healing, and support. He was here for the people and to save all of God’s children.
But, the answer to who or what God is, has been discussed, argued, fought over, and slaughtered in the name of, for a very large part of human history. Take a dive into my thoughts on God/religion and its progression with my post I Can Only Do For Me… should you want to understand my opinions on a deeper level. Essentially from my perspective, God is an eternal, Divine Source of all that is, of all life, all energy, all Being. God does not exist separate from us, but is a collective consciousness from which we were all conceived. We only appear divided from this Source while here on the physical plane.
All humans are connected to this Divine Source. We will all return to this formless Being when our material bodies wither and die. In that sense, all humans are indeed children of God. We are all the stillness, the observer in the background of the madness of the mind, that stems from this collective eternal consciousness. That is the Truth of who you really are. You are not the person, the identity, the name, the material human that most of you believe you are. That is what I am referencing when writing the big I AM. Who you truly are is the Truth. In John 14:6: “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.'” He was, in my opinion, conveying the big I AM. He was saying no one comes to God/source without recognizing this ultimate Truth within themselves. You don’t have to accept this Truth, but recognizing it will create an overall more enjoyable human experience.
This great Truth, and how to properly engage in the human experience, is exactly what I believe Jesus came here to do. Take what he said in the book of John, Chapter 16, and specifically in John 16:33: “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” In recognizing this Truth, a person surrenders and embodies inner peace. Through this Truth, they transcend the material world, and Jesus showed them how. Maybe it’s not so much that he was greatly misunderstood by Christianity, but I do believe the path to awakening that he attempted to show humanity got lost in translation of the gospel. Jesus advocated for the transformation of human consciousness, and he came to prepare humanity for a radical shift in how we interact with reality, and in how we use consciousness in the grander scheme of this material realm.
He came to show us the way to create heaven on earth. We only do that by drastically shifting our human consciousness, which is extremely powerful and the backbone of all life. God created life. God is higher dimension consciousness and science is finally starting to take consciousness and its relation to the creation of life seriously. Take biocentrism for example, which positions the observer as the creator of reality, and states that biological life is a fundamental part of the universe, rather than a byproduct. From a biocentric point of view, consciousness organizes reality to be suitable for life. Sounds a lot like it parallels that God created reality, when looking at God from a perspective of being that consciousness.
In returning to the gospel, in John 16:25-28, Jesus said, ” 25 “Though I have been speaking figuratively, a time is coming when I will no longer use this kind of language but will tell you plainly about my Father. 26 In that day you will ask in my name. I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf. 27 No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. 28 I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.” He is saying that the time will come for this radical transformation of human consciousness. Only then might we understand this Truth, because while we can point toward it with language and written word and thoughts, we will never fully be able to grasp it until we come at it from a higher dimension of consciousness. Jesus is saying that all his disciples must do is ask for what they wish to receive from God, and that God will give it to them without Jesus intercepting or asking on their behalf. That is because each person must transform their own consciousness and learn to craft their own personal reality. Ask and you shall receive really translates to manifestation. You create your own reality, and the goal is to return to a more malleable existence on earth.
When I refer to a malleable existence, I am indeed speaking of a time when physical reality was easier to bend and shape to conscious will. I believe humanity lived like this long before civilized human history, in what the Aborigines have called “the Dreamtime.” In what the Bible calls the Garden of Eden. A time when consciousness and humanity intermingled openly to create reality as the humans experiencing it saw fit. Like flipping a switch, we used to freely create and change physical manifestations using conscious thought.
Jesus shows us that humans have this ability, to change their physical structure and reality, when he performed miracles. As life is created by consciousness and can change through conscious interference, his miracles showed people the possibilities for life and how we can fix our ailments, heal our bodies, create food, and not just survive, but thrive. It is stated in Matthew 8:21-22: “21 For she said to herself, “If only I may touch his garment, I shall be made well.” 22 But Jesus turned around, and when he saw her he said, “Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that hour.” That is not him making her well. She created her own wellness with mere conscious thought, or faith, as Jesus calls it. He repeatedly puts the miracles back onto the people to perform for themselves and their kin, as also shown in Matthew 8:13: “Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And his servant was healed that same hour.” There are plenty of miracles that he actually performed and he absolutely healed others, I am not arguing that. But people healing themselves is no different than the miracle stories you read about today. Patients who survive a terminal illness diagnosis and flabbergast doctors. People who rid themselves of tumors and diseases with no treatment other than a change in their consciousness. Please, research and read some of these stories if you are skeptical; you can start with Anita Moorjani. Even something as simple as the placebo effect is an extraordinary and powerful reminder that the mind, when it truly believes in something, can create that reality in a physical manifestation. How else is it possible that someone with a multiple personality disorder (Dissociative Identity Disorder) can have some personalities with allergies or illnesses, while other personalities are healthy as can be? It doesn’t make sense, unless you look at it from a perspective that reality can be malleable.
Of course, as the madness of the human mind took over, we lost our connection to this malleable existence. Where it used to be effortless and a natural part of experiencing the world, now it has been hidden and stripped from history, all in an attempt to disempower and enslave humanity. All in an attempt to serve evil, and those who do wish ill-intent on this world. The Bible depicts this change as happening rather instantaneously, when Adam and Eve were expelled from the garden after picking the infamous fruit and introducing sin to the material world, but I of course theorize that it was actually a much more gradual process. I imagine it took generations of conditioning the human mind and boxing us into this limited perspective to lower our awareness and separate us from the Truth.
Fun fact about the original ancient Greek translation of the word sin. It actually translates to missing the mark, as in missing a target. From this definition, you could say that to sin is actually more like missing the point of human existence! It is to suffer, and cause suffering, because you are living blind (to the Truth) and unskillfully (unable to bend reality). Humanity is tainted with madness and dysfunction, that much is clear, but we must first change our inner reality before we can hope to change our external reality. Jesus came to show us the path back to when people used thought (to create reality), instead of being possessed by thought (which shows up as anxiety, depression, etc.).
Jesus taught us that we need salvation in order to transform our consciousness. But what if salvation is nothing more than to recognize our own madness, and the madness of the human mind? Salvation is to shift our consciousness! Truly shifting and changing your internal state IS the salvation you are looking for and the answer to the questions that you seek (about who you are, what your purpose is). Jesus said in Matthew 11:28: “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” When we are slaves to our thoughts and to the madness of the human mind, we are constantly fighting against it, and are burdened by the ego that is controlling us. Jesus is telling us that to recognize this madness, and to surrender to the Truth, will bring us freedom and rest from suffering.
When he says things like this, such as in Mark 11:22-24: “22 ‘Have faith in God,’ Jesus answered. 23 ‘Truly, I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.'” What I believe he is actually saying is that humanity can alter reality with conscious thought. To have faith in the divinity within, to surrender and be with conviction that consciousness creates reality, will allow us to regain that which was lost long ago.
Awareness of the ego is the first step toward dissolution. And dissolution of the ego is necessary for the transformation of your internal state. Ego is attachment: attachment to the material world, to identity, to the small self, to being superior, to being right, to being understood, to really anything within the confines of the physical realm. Jesus said, in Matthew 5:39-40: “39 But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. 40 If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak also.” He is telling us that if someone takes your shirt, give them your coat as well, for this is an act of letting go of material possessions and letting go of attachment. Do not resist. In saying to turn your cheek, if someone commits an atrocity against you, simply maintain your peace and let that person carry on and commit their crime. It is not your responsibility to judge or criticize or intervene on that person’s actions, and you should never respond with an atrocity or ill-action in return. That would be a reaction from the ego, not the True self.
When people criticize or condemn or judge another, it is their ego trying to feel superior. That is why Jesus said in Matthew 5:3: “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?” He is telling us to worry about our selves, and our own path. We can only shift our own consciousness and internal state of being. No one can do it for another and we should not be so quick to point out where another has missed the mark.
Jesus makes notes and references to our internal state of being and energy centers throughout his entire gospel and messages, but they have been missed or taken in a different context. Take for example in Matthew 6:21-23 where he says, “21 The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. 22 But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness! 23 No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” The eye he is referencing is the THIRD EYE, our inner eye and intuition. If our inner eye is open and working properly, we will be full of light and love without any attachment to material wealth. If not, we will be full of all the madness of the human mind: greed, anger, and suffering. We cannot serve both. We must surrender the ego and recognize the Truth, and we can only do this if our third eye is open and properly attuned. To be properly attuned, we must be in touch with our inner body and the present moment. Only in the present moment may we escape the ego.
Are you still with me? Well, this is where I may lose you, if this hasn’t already been enough of a cultural shell shock and mix-matching of ideas. One big factor in the entire story of Jesus that makes me wonder how could that have been misinterpreted, is his resurrection. Did he in fact actually die on the cross and rise from the dead like a zombie in Resident Evil?
It is universally acknowledged that all matter breaks down and that any form will perish. Upon death, where the material matter dissolves into the earth, the True self dissolves back into the collective consciousness and Divine Source. However, I am also of the belief that our souls reincarnate, choosing to continue playing the game of life, to learn, to grow, and to experience this realm, over and over for as many cycles as we choose. I could say that his resurrection is simply a metaphor for ego-death and awakening, and that it is the soul’s rebirth into pure consciousness after transcending the suffering of the small self. I could try to explain it as purely a figurative example of how people are reborn into a higher dimension of consciousness and transcend the suffering of the limited human body/perspective. That is what Eckhart Tolle would say.
But that still wouldn’t explain how he physically returned his life (the I AM) into a form that was clearly dead. Unless either the resurrection didn’t happen as written, or Jesus is actually showing us one last powerful tool of the trade, one that perhaps even we cannot understand from this limited perspective of impermanence, it’s clear there’s something more here. Eternal life is the formless Being within all people, that which is beyond death. All forms (all material structures on this plane) will wither and die and can be described as unstable, in the sense they will eventually fall apart. But if Jesus really wanted to swing his gospel out into the world on a home run, what if he re-birthed his consciousness back into his human form (healing the old one as bending reality would allow) to come back and show his disciples that there is life after death. That his soul, the I AM, his True self, did in fact live on! What if his three day stint in the tomb was akin to a near-death experience, where his soul body dallied around in the in-between, in the Divine Source of all things for a little while, before God (Source) sent him back. Maybe there is a way that we can resurrect dead cells and re-animate life once our consciousness transforms and we are operating from a higher dimension of reality. What if he popped back over from the other side (the Divine Source) and reincarnated into his same body merely to prove his point.
I mean, this one-hundred percent aligns with how the Bible and his disciples describe the resurrection as happening. They say they felt his wounds, saw that he was of flesh and bone, and not a spirit. They attribute that resurrection to God, saying that the creator raised him from the dead. They say that Jesus died for the sins of mankind. Jesus died to show mankind that they are living blindly and missing the point of human existence by NOT recognizing the great I AM, the Truth. His resurrection was proof that there is life beyond the physical realm, that our soul body lives on and re-emerges with the Divine Source. His use of his original flesh body is proof that reality can be malleable, and can be transformed by conscious thought alone. He ascended to heaven/source not long after, because his final message was complete. His proof was shown, and now it was up to mankind to heed his examples and spread the message of transforming human consciousness.
All Jesus hoped was to show humanity a better way to engage in the human experience. In knowing and recognizing our inner nature and divinity, we will find peace. The material world will be full of challenges and suffering, but when we have the joy of Being, we can overcome the ego and material possessions. We can recognize the madness of the mind, and not take it so seriously. In John 11:25: “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.” Though the material body will die, the eternal soul will live. The time will come when the formless in us will meld back into the collective consciousness that is God, that is all Being, at its source. The formless will go on.
Jesus came to show humanity the way we are meant to live on the material realm, and that it all stems back to consciousness and dissolving the ego self, the small self that identifies with attachment, material possessions, wealth, labels, and judgement. And of course, Jesus came to show us that our primary purpose while on this material realm is to do nothing but LOVE one another. He states this in his messages many times, like in Matthew 5:44: “But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.” Or in John 13:34: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.”
I hope for nothing more than to provide another perspective on Jesus Christ and his teachings. It’s a way that we can look at what he came to show us, and apply it to our current lives. I believe there is a lot of truth woven within the Christian religion, but as bureaucracy and people tend to convolute and corrupt even the purest of things, so the structure of the religion turned to fear and compulsion and manipulation. And please, that is not to say that all Christians and all churches within the religion operate this way. There are so many sects and variations and GOOD PEOPLE who follow Christ in the traditional sense. It is not my intent to make a mockery of anyone who follows the religion, nor is that what I feel my words are saying.
I am simply presenting old ideas in a fresh perspective.
