Week Four & Five: Christmas Prep

Ahh yes, the smells of Christmas are in the air.

stockingsOf course, in Florida that doesn’t quite mean the thing that it did up north.  It doesn’t smell like pine trees, or burning wood from fireplaces, or hot cocoa, or snow or any of the usual odors I’ve learned to associate with Christmas.

It’s hot. Sunny. Smells like summer outside with salty air and fresh cut grass wafting down the street. The feel of Christmas just isn’t the quite the same.

But the spirit is here inside our hearts and homes. Even if the weather isn’t playing along.

This week we received a large package from the family up north, full of goodies, and presents, and yes our stockings – stuffed with treasures! Our little 4 foot tree has got a lot of gifts stacking up underneath and beside it.

I am stoked that the holidays are falling on a Saturday/Sunday combo. My man works weekends and so this finally gives us a weekend off together – one that we didn’t have to specifically request! We’ve got a very fun weekend planned and I’ve spent the last two weeks making sure all my shopping is done, all my gifts are wrapped up, and that our holiday letter and mailed packages are sent off.

I can finally breathe! I am sitting back relaxing with the delicious aroma of pork chops, mashed potatoes, and Brussel sprouts filling the air. I can finally take some more time to work on this website and build up my writing sample pages.

In case I’m not back on here again before this weekend – Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays and Warm Wishes to each and every person who sees this.

Yours for Happy Writing,

Lady Jenji
